OET requirements for the GDC (UK dental): what score you need

The GDC regulates dentists and dental care professionals in the UK and sets the English language evidence international applicants need.

OET is one of the routes the GDC recognises, with a Dentistry version available. Confirm the accepted version and grade on the GDC site before booking.

Regulator: General Dental Council
Country: United Kingdom
Covers: Dentists and dental care professionals
Official site: www.gdc-uk.org

THE OET REQUIREMENT

The GDC has commonly accepted OET at grade B, a numeric score of 350, in each of the four subtests. Verify the current requirement, including which OET version is accepted, on the GDC website.

WORTH CONFIRMING

Combining-sitting rules and result validity are set by the GDC and can change, so confirm the current terms directly rather than assume they match another regulator.

PREPARE FOR THE GRADE

Whatever the exact figure, Writing and Speaking are the subtests most candidates lose marks on. WardPass marks practice letters and role plays in seconds against the published OET criteria, and tracks a readiness estimate per subtest toward the 350 line, so you know whether you are on track before you sit the test.
